The 2023 Kia Sportage: What We Know So Far

This year, the 2022 Kia Sportage brought a sleek and sporty design — both externally and internally — as well as three hybrid options. But what does 2023 have in store for Kia’s popular compact crossover SUV?

Although we are still waiting for the 2023 Kia Sportage to officially be revealed, here’s everything we know so far — including new features and how it compares to the previous model.

2022 Kia Sportage Trim Options

Before we reveal everything we know about the 2023 Kia Sportage, here’s a brief overview of the previous year’s trim options.

Kia Sportage LX

Kia Sportage’s base model comes equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. Standard safety features include forward collision avoidance assist, lane departure and keeping technology, and driver attention warning. Meanwhile, other features include an 8-inch touchscreen display, remote keyless entry, and a dual-level cargo floor. Pricing for the Sportage LX starts at $24,090.

Kia Sportage Nightfall Edition

Ready to activate dark mode? As the name suggests, the Nightfall Edition brings stylish, dark features that add an elevated touch to the Kia Sportage. Noticeable features include 18-inch alloy wheels in a dark gray finish, a panoramic sunroof, special Nightfall Edition badging, and striking piano black accents that are sure to make a stylish first impression wherever you go. Pricing for the Kia Sportage Nightfall Edition starts at $28,090.

Kia Sportage EX

For ultimate style and comfort on the road, the EX trim comes with heated front seats, a leather steering wheel and shift knob, and available leather seat trim options. And for extra convenience, the EX trim also includes a push button start and a driver’s one-touch safety window. Pricing for the Kia Sportage EX starts at $28,390.

Kia Sportage SX Turbo

The SX Turbo is the Sportage’s most premium trim option, so you can expect to find elevated, luxurious features throughout this model. The SX Turbo includes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. With ventilated front seats, leather seat trim, UVO link with navigation, Harman Kardon premium audio, and wireless phone charger capabilities, the SX Turbo is the most luxurious Kia Sportage yet.

What to Expect From the 2023 Kia Sportage

Kia’s popular compact crossover is getting a complete makeover! This fifth-generation Sportage will make a bold statement, proving why it stands out among other compact crossovers. Although Kia has not officially announced the new Sportage, there are plenty of rumors surrounding the 2023 model and what we can expect. Keep reading for an inside look!

Exterior Features

Externally, the 2023 Kia Sportage is even sleeker and sportier than ever before. This redesigned Sportage boasts a dramatic new look and trendy, futuristic features. With low-mounted headlights, boomerang-shaped LED lighting accents, and a distinct grille design that spans across the vehicle’s face, the car’s bodywork is noticeably different compared to its predecessor.

Interior Features

The 2023 Kia Sportage is just as clean and modern on the inside as it is on the outside. This model features a large touchscreen infotainment panel and a digital instrument cluster — both of which clock in at 12 inches. Other eye-catching details make the 2023 Sportage stand out, such as a two-tone color scheme, a unique air vent shape, and a rotary dial for the gear selector. One of these modes is a Terrain Mode, a new addition to the 2023 Sportage that improves stability on uneven or slippery surfaces like snow, mud, or sand. The new Sportage is also rumored to have more cargo and passenger space than the previous model.

Powertrain Options

From the 2023 Sportage’s base model, users can expect a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, along with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, there’s nothing basic about the 2023 Sportage’s standard model. Meanwhile, it is also rumored that the 2023 Sportage will bring both a standard hybrid and plug-in hybrid model to the market — which is great news for eco-conscious consumers!
